"Namu" is an unframed serigraph limited edition print of 80, made in 2023 by Roy Henry Vickers from the Tsimshian Nation.
"I remember the Namu Cannery as a bustling place during the sockeye season. Many of my relatives from Waglisla worked here. A few years ago, I had the chance to anchor at Namu with my family. The old buildings were falling; Namu had been left to rot away. There was an air of sadness, yet the sunset was gorgeous in this beautiful location.
We had an incredible, exciting, and serene evening as sockeye were jumping all around us. The young ones spent some time trying to catch a salmon with no success. As we cruised away the following morning, I wondered if Namu would be treasured and repaired.
I’m excited to hear that Waglisla has a chance to clean the place up. I look forward to returning to this beautiful spot, in the Great Bear Rain Forest."
